WebcamMicTest (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the website webcammictest.com (the “Service”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you use our Service.

1. Overview

WebcamMicTest is a browser-based tool for testing webcams, microphones, and headphones. All device testing and analysis is performed entirely in your browser. We do not transmit, record, or store any audio or video data from your camera or microphone on our servers.

2. Information we collect

2.1 Information you provide voluntarily

If you choose to submit feedback through our contact form, you may provide:

  • A text message (required)
  • An email address (optional)

2.2 Information collected automatically

When you submit feedback or an error report, our server automatically receives:

  • Your IP address
  • Your browser user agent (browser type and version)
  • The page URL from which you submitted the form

We do not collect this information during normal use of our testing tools. It is only collected when you actively submit a feedback form or when an automated error report is triggered.

2.3 Information stored in your browser

We use your browser's localStorage (not cookies) to save your preferences, such as:

  • Tool settings (volume levels, filter configurations, display preferences)
  • Visit day counters (to customize the user experience for returning visitors)
  • Your approximate country (fetched from a third-party geolocation service and cached locally, used solely to determine which advertising network to display)

This data never leaves your browser and is not accessible to us.

2.4 Camera and microphone access

When you use our webcam or microphone testing tools, your browser will ask for your permission to access these devices.

  • All camera and microphone processing happens entirely in your browser
  • No audio or video data is sent to our servers or any third party
  • Your media streams are released as soon as you leave the testing page or revoke permission
  • Any recordings you make using our recording feature are saved only to your local device

2.5 Third-party services

Advertising: Google AdSense / Google Ad Manager may use cookies for ad personalization. See Google's Privacy Policy. Yandex Advertising Network serves ads to users in certain regions. See Yandex Privacy Policy.

Geolocation: GeoJS (geojs.io) determines your approximate country based on your IP address, used solely to select the appropriate advertising network.

Consent management: Google Funding Choices manages cookie consent preferences for users in regions where consent is required.

3. How we use information

We may use the information we collect to:

  • Respond to feedback or support requests at our discretion
  • Diagnose technical errors
  • Display advertisements to support the free Service
  • Determine the appropriate advertising network based on your region
  • Comply with legal obligations or protect our rights

To our knowledge, we do not sell your personal information or use your camera or microphone data beyond the testing you initiate.

4. Legal basis for processing (EEA/UK users)

Feedback form submission is processed based on your consent. IP address and user agent collection in feedback is based on legitimate interest (preventing abuse). Essential localStorage is based on legitimate interest (Service functionality). Advertising cookies are based on consent managed via Google Funding Choices. Country detection is based on legitimate interest (serving appropriate ad network).

5. Cookies and similar technologies

We use localStorage to save your preferences. Unlike cookies, localStorage data is not sent to our server with each request. Third-party advertising services may set cookies on your device. For users in jurisdictions that require consent, we use Google Funding Choices to obtain consent before loading personalized advertisements.

6. Data sharing and transfers

We may share information in the following circumstances:

  • Feedback messages may be forwarded to third-party messaging platforms for internal review
  • Third-party ad networks receive information as described in their own privacy policies
  • Your IP address is sent to third-party geolocation services
  • As required by law, legal process, or to protect our rights

We are not responsible for the privacy practices of any third-party services integrated into or linked from the Service. You should review their policies independently.

7. Data retention

Feedback messages and error reports are retained indefinitely in a private Telegram channel. localStorage data persists until you clear your browser data. Ad network data is retained per each network's policy.

8. Your rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, applicable law may grant you certain rights regarding your personal data. We will consider such requests in accordance with applicable law. Due to the minimal nature of our data collection, we may be unable to identify or locate specific user data.

To make a request, use our feedback form or email us. We make no guarantees regarding response times.

9. Children's privacy

Our Service is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with a new “Last Updated” date.

11. Disclaimer

This Privacy Policy is provided for informational purposes. We make reasonable efforts to describe our data practices accurately but make no guarantees that this policy is exhaustive or error-free. Your use of the Service constitutes acceptance of our data practices as described herein.
